Park History
The Eastern side originally had a "pre-drop", where riders would be dropped a few metres before slowing by use of the ride's failsafe magnetic brakes only to be dropped the full distance moments later. This ride programme was discontinued by way of adjusting the braking fins on the tower to make them no longer functioning.

»A fun ride ignoring all else
24 Sep 2006 . The fun and excitement delivered by this ride is fantastic...once you are on it. But the theming is lacklustre and in poor repair, the lines move agonisingly slow and the park continues to run it at "reduced capacity" even in the peak of summer. The ride also spends a bit too long waiting at the top than what is really needed to build up the fear.
But still, if you ignore its many flaws it is a good ride.

»The Best View Around
10 Sep 2005 . Despite it's barren theming and slow lines Giant Drop offers probably Dreamworlds best ride experience in terms of thrills. After a slow winch to the top of the 120 meter tower riders are left with their legs dangling freely to admire the spectacular view before they take a heart-stopping five second plunge back down again. Giant Drop is definitely one of the parks more intimidating rides.
