August 24, 2002: Early stages of construction are underway. At this point in time only the basic concept of Nickelodeon Central was known.
October 6, 2002: Coaster footings started to appear at the far side of the site, confirming a roller coaster for Nick Central.
This area was home to the Kennyland children's area.
Tower of Terror's entrance was relocated to make way for Nick Central.
Central Cafe remained closed for much of the construction period.
October 12, 2002: Paving of the Central Cafe area was completed early to allow the refurbished area to reopen prior to Nick Central.
Nearly all footings are now in place.

Initially the Merry-Go-Round and Dodgems remained open during construction
A temporary children's area was setup in Gum Tree Gully for the duration of construction

The area known as "Village Green" has now closed to undergo renovations for Nick Central.

October 27, 2002: Vertical construction is now underway on Runaway Reptar Roller Coaster.
Dreamworld's Runaway Reptar has a darker coloured track than its USA equivalents.
The central support column for Runaway Reptar Roller Coaster. In the background, Avalanche's mountain structure has been somewhat dismantled. Leaks and structural weaknesses were repaired before it was remodeled and repainted.
November 3, 2002: Trackwork continues on Reptar.
The ride's structure is at this stage around 75% complete.
All that remains to be installed are the initial helix track sections.
Though the coaster nears completion, a majority of the other work is yet to be commenced.
The Merry-Go-Round has been gutted to allow retheming.
November 10, 2002: Reptar's structure is now complete. Initial stages of landscaping are now underway.
Artwork and descriptions were made publicly available.
Avalanche had its cars rethemed to fit the new name, Angry Beavers' Spooty Spin, seen in the old Go Kart Station beneath Thunderbolt.
November 17, 2002: Landscaping continues. In the background, the mountain's side has been repatched.
Work is well underway on the Wild Thornberry's ball play area.
The "Village Oval" buildings are being renovated in the background.
